Chabad GWU

ABOUT

With the vision of opening the doors of Judaism to all Jewish students and faculty at George Washington University, we have established the Rohr Chabad Jewish Student Center at GW, a place where Jews of all backgrounds and levels of observance can enjoy exploring their heritage in a warm, welcoming, non-judgmental environment.

Rohr Chabad at GW is a part of the worldwide Chabad Lubavitch movement with more than 3,500 institutions in 85 countries, inspired by the life, teachings, and example of The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson of blessed memory. For a glimpse into the Rebbe's legacy click here.

Who We are

We at Chabad strive to facilitate the needs of the GW Jewish Student body.

George Washington University is home to one of the largest Jewish populations on all US universities, we feel that every Jew should have the opportunity to experience a Jewishly enriched college life, and with a non-judgmental and very welcoming approach we intend to do just that.

As we plan our programs and develop our classes we encourage your input and suggestions. Our Chabad House is designed with you in mind, consider it your "home away from home".

Looking forward to meeting you in person,

Rabbi Yudi and Rivky Steiner

(Levi, Meir, Rochel, Doba, Mushka & Moshe too)

Our Philosophy
Our Mission

What We Believe...

Rohr Chabad is based on the ideology of Chabad, which has at its foundation the encompassing mitzvah "to love every Jew as one loves themselves" and to permeate that love with acts of kindness and Mitzvahs.

It's our belief that every individual Jew has an indispensable contribution to make to the totality of the Jewish people. Chabad seeks to engage fellow Jews at their own pace and comfort level through innovative educational programs in all areas of Jewish life.

We Strive to Create...

A center for prayer and study, where one can gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of ones Jewish heritage.

A partnership between students and staff to help create student programming, plan social action projects, raise women's issues, promote health awareness activities and offer many volunteer opportunities.

A community for all Jewish students, with opportunities to expand their experiences in all aspects of their college career.
